Elephant polo tournament kicks off in Chitwan

MEGHAULI: The 29th Elephant Polo Championship tournament has kicked off at the International Elephant Polo Ground in Chitwan on Monday.

The sport event was first introduced by Nepal in 1981 and has been gaining worldwide popularity in recent years, with Sri Lanka and Thailand organising such tournaments in their respective countries.

Eight teams from Nepal, Iceland, England, Scotland, UAE, Switzerland and Afghanistan are taking part in the tournament.

The tournament is being jointly organised by the World Elephant Polo Association and the Tiger Tops Hotel.
