Agni air crashes killing 7 on board

KATHMANDU, May 14: At least seven persons have been killed in a plane crash near Jomshom on Monday.

Agni airplane with 18 passengers and three crew members heading to Jomshom from Pokhara crashed this morning.

However,five passengers, two childrens, two foreingners and an air hostess have been rescued alive.

Seven bodies of Indian nationals have been found near the crash site.

Ambassador to promote Nepali products in Israel

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s newly appointed Ambassador to Israel Prahlad Prasai has said his main mission as an envoy is promoting Nepal’s goods and tourism in Israel, along with strengthening bilateral cooperation and protecting the Nepali community there.

Talking to journalists today, Prasai said he was quite confident that Nepal’s agriculture products such as tea and coffee could sell well in Israel. He pointed that Nepal could learn lessons from the Israeli irrigation system, which is considered one of the best in the world.

Prasai, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is flying to Israel to assume his assignment on Wednesday. He expressed hope that Nepal’s Tel Aviv-based mission could help establish air link between Nepal and Israel via an Indian city. Continue reading

Tourism entrepreneurs to jointly promote Pokhara, Lumbini

POKHARA, May 12: Tourism entrepreneurs of Pokhara and Lumbini have joined hands to jointly promote both tourist destinations. They have also expressed commitment to identify new destinations and make efforts to introduce direct flight connectivity and inter-city luxury buses between Pokhara and Lumbini.

At an interaction organized in Pokhara, officials of Siddhartha Association of Travel Agents (SATA) and Pashchimanchal Hotel Association Pokhara (PHAP) also agreed make efforts to attract and domestic and Indian tourists.

“It´s going to be easy to great pressure and to bring positive result with the joint effort,” Biplab Poudel, president of PHAP, said. He expressed hope that the agreement would play a key role in increasing number of tourists in both the destinations.  Continue reading
