Hari Prasad Sharma, Assistant Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, confirmed that security preparations are in place to implement the announcement allowing nighttime business operations in Thamel and Durbarmarg. He further noted that security protocols for 24-hour operations were developed based on recommendations from all relevant stakeholders.
All tourism-related establishments, including shops, clubs, dance halls, folk music venues, and discos, will remain open. Chairman Sharma shared that nighttime business will operate across all areas of Thamel through consultation and coordination with all stakeholders. Businesses that fail to meet standards according to the code of conduct will be subject to closure starting April 14.

Durbarmarg is a long, wide thoroughfare in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It is considered the heart of the city, reminiscent of the Champs-Élysées or major avenues in other capital cities. As it leads to the Narayanhiti Palace, it is also known among foreigners as the King’s Way.
